Dot NAME Domain Name Registrations

Set up in 2001, the Dot NAME generic domain extension is the only one planned for personal sites only. These domains can consist of personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other labels people are popular by. Initially, just 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you wanted to order john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already purchased third-level domains remained operational.

Through our firm, you can reserve your dot NAME domain for a period between one and ten years. You will be able to update the WHOIS information, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already purchased domain to our company if you receive its EPP transfer authorization code from the present domain registrar and we will renew it once the transfer has been finalized. There are no specific restrictions on who can buy a dot NAME domain, but in order to preserve the idea behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry organization may verify who the owner is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration may be challenged.
