A subdomain is a part of a web address which is under the main domain, for example name.example.com. From a technical perspective, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain because the fully qualified domain name is only "example.com". Every single subdomain could have its own website and records and can also be hosted using a different provider if you wish to use a specific feature that is not provided by your current service provider. One example for using a subdomain is if you have a company website along with an online store under a subdomain where customers can purchase your products. You can even have a forum in which they can discuss the products and by using subdomains as opposed to subfolders you will avoid any risk of all sites going down when you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping the websites separated is also less risky in case there is a script security breach.

Subdomains in Cloud Hosting

Our cloud hosting plans will permit you to create numerous subdomains for every domain address hosted in your account without any problem. Assuming that the main domain is added, it takes two clicks to create a subdomain and select what folder it'll open (if different from the default one), set customized error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and a lot more. All subdomains are going to be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for quick access and management. By right-clicking on any of them and by using fast access buttons you can view the error logs, visitor statistics or website files for that particular subdomain. We have not set a restriction for the total amount of subdomains you can create with any one of our plans, so you can have as many as you need.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our Linux semi-dedicated service do not have a set limit for the amount of subdomains you can create. Adding a new subdomain in the account takes only a couple of mouse clicks in the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and during the process you can choose the folder the subdomain will access if it will be different from the default one, set up customized error pages, enable FrontPage Extensions if you need them or set a dedicated IP address rather than the shared server one in case you have added such an upgrade to your semi-dedicated account. When the subdomain is set up, you will be able to access logs and visitor statistics or you can easily jump to the website files for it inside the File Manager section via quick access buttons. All subdomains you've got within the account are going to be conveniently listed under their root domain, so you are going to be able to find and control any one of them easily.
